RT-701A Plastic MFR Melt Flow Rate Tester

Melt flow rate meter is used to determine the melt flow rate of thermoplastics (MFR; units: g/10min) instrument. For polyethylene, polypropylene, polyoxymethylene, ABS resin, polycarbonate, nylon, plastics and other polymers fluoride melt flow rate at high temperature determination.

Product Details:

Product Overview

The KR-701A extrusion plastometer is a bench-top lab instrument dedicated to analyzing melt fluidity of thermoplastic pellets. Under precisely stabilized high temperature and standardized gravity loads, it extrudes molten resin through a calibrated standard die, calculating melt mass flow rate (MFR, unit: g/10min) by weighing extruded cut samples. This core viscosity index guides raw material incoming inspection, new formula adjustment and injection/extrusion molding parameter matching.
Designed and manufactured to fully comply with GB/T 3682 national standard, this manual melt flow tester supports all mainstream thermoplastics including PE, PP, ABS, PC, PA, POM and fluoropolymer materials. It is widely deployed in modified plastic compound factories, masterbatch manufacturers, polymer R&D labs, wire material workshops and third-party material certification institutions.

Core Product Strengths

  1. Ultra-Precision Standard Extrusion Die & Barrel Assembly

The extrusion nozzle adopts high-hardness alloy with strictly controlled dimensions: inner diameter Φ2.095±0.005mm, die length 8.000±0.025mm. The heating cylinder inner bore is Φ9.550±0.025mm with total effective length 152±0.1mm, paired with matched precision piston rod. All core flow parts are CNC machined to tight tolerances, eliminating dimensional deviation that distorts MFR test readings.

  2. 8 Grades Standard Matching Weights for Full Test Coverage

Complete set of graded counterweights covering universal test load specifications from 0.325kg up to 21.6kg. Each weight set is calibrated before factory delivery, perfectly matching temperature-load test requirements of different plastic varieties without extra custom counterweight purchases. The top turntable weight placement structure allows quick load switching for batch comparison tests.

  3. Closed-Loop PID Constant Temperature Control System

Independent multi-point heating circuit with digital temperature display, stable temperature fluctuation controlled within ±0.5℃ across the whole barrel cavity. Uniform heating eliminates local hot spots that cause resin thermal degradation during long-time melting, guaranteeing consistent molten state for every group of test samples. The control panel features intuitive digital key input for one-click target temperature setup.

  4. Ergonomic Manual Extrusion Cutting Mechanism

Side-mounted hand-held cutting blade with heat insulation grip allows fast, uniform trimming of extruded melt strands at fixed time intervals. The quick-cut design reduces manual operation errors when capturing short extrusion segments, improving the accuracy of average mass calculation for final MFR results.

  5. Integrated Safety Protection & Compact Desktop Frame

High-temperature warning stickers and safety interlock structure prevent accidental contact with hot barrel surfaces. The all-in-one welded cabinet with anti-rust coating occupies minimal lab counter space, equipped four adjustable anti-slip leveling feet to stabilize the unit during long-term continuous testing. Single-phase 220V mains power removes requirements for industrial power transformation.

  6. Built-In Data Calculation Logic

The control panel stores standard MFR computing algorithm. Operators only input average mass of cut extrudates and cutting interval time; the system instantly outputs standardized g/10min results without manual formula calculation, lowering human arithmetic mistakes in daily QC testing.

Standard Complete Test Operation Steps

  1. Equipment Preheating & Parameter Setting
Power on the control system, set target melting temperature matching the tested plastic material, wait 20–30 minutes for the heating barrel to reach full stable constant temperature.
  2. Sample Feeding & Piston Placement
Dry plastic pellets to standard moisture content, pour 5–7g sample into the heating cylinder, insert the piston rod and place corresponding calibrated weight assembly onto the piston top turntable.
  3. Standard Thermal Soaking
Start timing for material thermal insulation according material requirements to ensure complete, uniform melting of resin granules inside the barrel cavity.
  4. Timed Manual Extrusion Cutting
Once steady melt strands flow out from the die hole, use the side cutting tool to cut extruded segments at fixed time intervals (such as 30s per piece), collect all cut melt samples for weighing.
  5. MFR Automatic Calculation
Weigh each collected extrudate mass and input average value and cutting time into the control panel; the equipment instantly computes the melt flow rate value following standard formula MFR=600×m/t.
  6. Post-Test Cleaning & Shutdown
Remove residual molten plastic inside barrel and die with dedicated cleaning tools after cooling down, cut off main power supply and store all weights in a dry storage cabinet.
