The KR-724 flame spread testing apparatus is a professional fire reaction performance detection device built for vertical panel materials. It adopts gas-fired radiant heat source combined with propane pilot flame ignition mode, simulates real fire thermal radiation environment, and quantitatively records core combustion indicators such as lateral flame propagation speed, critical heat flux (CEF), ignition energy and total heat release of test specimens.
This equipment fully complies with ISO 5658-2 international fire test standard and IMO marine material fire specification, and meets GB/T 28752 domestic vertical flame spread detection requirements. It is widely adopted by construction material factories, rail transit interior R&D centers, ship material inspection labs and fire safety certification institutions for flame retardant grade classification and new material combustion performance screen

  3. Full Safety Gas Anti-Backflow Protection
    Multi-layer gas safety interlock structure including check valves, automatic cut-off solenoid valves and overheat protection sensors. Once reverse flame backflow or radiant plate overheating is detected, the system instantly cuts off propane supply to eliminate fire hazards. Optional full explosion-proof gas pipeline assembly is available for high-risk laboratory environments.
  4. Intelligent Integrated Test Control System
    Touch operation terminal pre-stores complete ISO and IMO standard test programs, supporting 0–10 hours unattended automatic testing. Built-in high-definition video recording module synchronously captures the whole flame spreading process; all test data including flame advance time, heat flux and cumulative heat release can be stored and printed as standardized inspection reports with one click.
  5. Split Modular Frame & Easy Maintenance
    Separate control cabinet, radiant heating frame and waste liquid collecting tray design. All contact components in the combustion chamber are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, easy to wipe off soot and molten residues after testing. The sliding sample platform enables fast loading and unloading of vertical test panels without dismounting the radiant assembly.
  6. Complete Heat Release Detection Matching
    The exhaust flue is fitted with multi-point thermopile temperature sensors, which cooperate with the control system to automatically calculate total heat release and peak heat release rate of materials, realizing one machine to complete flame spread test and thermal output evaluation simultaneously, reducing laboratory equipment investment.

Standard Complete Test Operation Steps

  1. Pre-Equipment Calibration & Inspection
    Power on the control system, start the radiant plate preheating program, use matching heat flux meter to calibrate surface radiation intensity; check gas pipeline tightness and anti-backflow safety valve working status, connect video recording equipment.
  2. Specimen Fixed Mounting
    Install the vertical test panel on the stainless steel sliding support frame, lock the positioning bolts to ensure the specimen surface is parallel to the radiant plate, push the rack into the standard test station and close the test baffle.
  3. Gas & Test Program Setup
    Open the propane gas supply valve, set test duration and data recording frequency on the touch panel, select ISO building material mode or IMO marine material dedicated program according to inspection requirements.
  4. Automatic Ignition & Flame Spread Test
    The radiant plate stabilizes to the set temperature gradient, the pilot burner automatically extends to ignite the specimen edge. The system continuously records the time required for the flame front to pass each 50mm grid and synchronously captures video footage.
  5. Post-Test Data Derivation
    After the test timing ends, the gas circuit automatically cuts off; the touch screen calculates flame propagation speed, ignition heat, critical heat flux and total heat release, and supports one-click export of complete test records and video files.
  6. Equipment Cleaning & Shutdown
    Wait for the radiant plate to fully cool down, pull out the sample rack to remove residues, wipe soot on the radiation panel and flue thermocouple, close gas and power supply to finish the testing workflow.
