The KR-701B desktop melt flow testing instrument is precision rheology lab equipment dedicated to measuring melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) of all thermoplastic raw materials. It applies standardized dead-weight load under constant high temperature, pushing molten polymer through ultra-precision capillary die. The system supports two mainstream test protocols: mass weighing method and piston displacement volume method, outputting accurate fluidity data to guide raw material incoming inspection, formula modification and injection/extrusion process parameter optimization.
This testing unit strictly complies with GB/T3682, ISO 1133, ASTM D1238 and JB/T5456 global polymer standards. Standard Complete Test Operating Steps
- Preheating & Test Parameter Setup
Power on the instrument, set target barrel temperature and cutting timing on LCD panel, wait 15–30 minutes for temperature to stabilize evenly inside heating cylinder.
- Dried Sample Feeding
Pour fully dried plastic pellets into the barrel cavity, insert piston rod and install matched calibrated counterweight stack on piston top.
- Thermal Soaking Period
Stand by for material complete melting according standard soaking time to guarantee uniform molten state without incomplete plasticization.
- Extrusion & Specimen Cutting
Start test program; molten plastic flows out from die opening. Use auto cutter or manual tool to slice extruded strands at preset time intervals.
- Flow Index Calculation
- MFR Mode: Collect cut samples, weigh average mass, machine auto compute g/10min melt flow value
- MVR Mode: Displacement sensor records piston moving distance, system auto calculate volume flow result
- Report Output & Post-Test Cleaning
Trigger print function to generate test record; after cooling barrel fully, disassemble die and piston to clear residual plastic melt for next batch testing.
