RT-701B Plastic Melt Flow Rate Index Tester

Meets the requirement of GB/T3682-2000 and ASTM D1238-98. And also ,we design and manufacture the instrument after we made a reference of similar standards, such as JB/T5456 and ISO 1133. It is used to determine the melt mass-flow rate (MFR) and the melt volume-flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics materials. It adopts auto sampling method and the cut samples are weighed up by balance when it is used to determine MFR. When it is used to determine MVR, it measures the time which the piston is used to move the specified distance first through the displacement transducer and auto timer system and calculates MVR according to the formula later. The final results of the two methods are all displayed on the machine’s LCD screen and printed and exported by computer. The instrument has high accuracy on data measurement with simple operation and stable capability. It is not only suitable for the tests of engineering plastics with higher melt temperature, such as PC, FI plastics, nylon, but also for the plastics with lower melt temperature, such as PE, PP, POM, PS, ABS resin and poly carbonic acid ester, etc. It has wide range of applications in some industries, such as plastic fabrication, plastic goods, petrochemical industry; collage and university and science and research institute and commodity inspection department.

The KR-701B desktop melt flow testing instrument is precision rheology lab equipment dedicated to measuring melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) of all thermoplastic raw materials. It applies standardized dead-weight load under constant high temperature, pushing molten polymer through ultra-precision capillary die. The system supports two mainstream test protocols: mass weighing method and piston displacement volume method, outputting accurate fluidity data to guide raw material incoming inspection, formula modification and injection/extrusion process parameter optimization.
This testing unit strictly complies with GB/T3682, ISO 1133, ASTM D1238 and JB/T5456 global polymer standards. Equipped standalone digital operation panel with optional PC data linkage function, it is widely deployed in petrochemical resin factories, modified plastic compound plants, cable material labs, automotive plastic R&D departments and university polymer teaching laboratories.

Standard Complete Test Operating Steps

  1. Preheating & Test Parameter Setup
    Power on the instrument, set target barrel temperature and cutting timing on LCD panel, wait 15–30 minutes for temperature to stabilize evenly inside heating cylinder.
  2. Dried Sample Feeding
    Pour fully dried plastic pellets into the barrel cavity, insert piston rod and install matched calibrated counterweight stack on piston top.
  3. Thermal Soaking Period
    Stand by for material complete melting according standard soaking time to guarantee uniform molten state without incomplete plasticization.
  4. Extrusion & Specimen Cutting
    Start test program; molten plastic flows out from die opening. Use auto cutter or manual tool to slice extruded strands at preset time intervals.
  5. Flow Index Calculation
  • MFR Mode: Collect cut samples, weigh average mass, machine auto compute g/10min melt flow value
  • MVR Mode: Displacement sensor records piston moving distance, system auto calculate volume flow result
  1. Report Output & Post-Test Cleaning
    Trigger print function to generate test record; after cooling barrel fully, disassemble die and piston to clear residual plastic melt for next batch testing.
