From Raw Material to Validated Formula — In One Compact Benchtop Unit

The KR-123B packs industrial-grade mixing capability into a 0.05-liter lab footprint. Test formulations, verify color matches, and qualify raw material batches before they ever hit your production line.

Why a Lab-Scale Mixer Changes Your Workflow

Scaling up without lab validation is expensive. Every failed production batch costs material, machine time, and customer trust.

Solution

The KR-123B bridges the gap between hand-mixing samples and full-scale compounding. Running as little as 20–50 grams per batch, it lets your R&D team:

  • Screen new rubber compounds or masterbatch formulas in hours, not days
  • Dial in pigment loading levels before committing to a production run
  • Characterize filler dispersion quality under controlled, repeatable conditions
  • Generate small-batch samples for customer approval without tying up a 75L production mixer

Inside the Mixing Chamber — How It Works

At the core of the RT-123B is a two-rotor tangential mixing chamber machined from wear-resistant alloy steel. Unlike open mills that expose material to ambient air and operator variability, this sealed chamber delivers:

Controlled Shear, Every Batch Two counter-rotating rotors — with a 1:1.20 speed differential — generate the dispersive and distributive mixing action that uniform compounding demands. Both rotors are hardened to HRC 55–60 and hard-chrome plated, so even abrasive fillers won’t degrade performance over time.

Precision Temperature Profiling Electric cartridge heating brings the chamber to your setpoint (ambient to 200°C standard, extendable to 300°C), while a water-jacket cooling circuit prevents overshoot. The PLC logs temperature at 0.1°C resolution across every stage of the mix cycle.

Pneumatic Ram Pressure A top ram, actuated by plant air (0.5–0.8 MPa), keeps material engaged with the rotors — no floating, no dead zones. This mimics the compaction behavior of a full-scale Banbury, so your lab results translate directly to the factory floor.

What Sets This Unit Apart

1. Recipe Programmability

The KAREY 17.5 PLC software lets you create, save, and recall multi-stage mixing recipes. Set rotor speed ramps, temperature plateaus, and ram pressure profiles — then hit run. The same recipe runs identically every time, removing operator-to-operator variability.

2. Three Operating Modes

  • Manual — full hands-on control for exploratory R&D
  • Semi-Automatic — pre-set stages with operator gate checks
  • Full Auto — load, press start, walk away until the discharge door opens

3. Split Discharge Design

A bottom split-door mechanism drops the batch cleanly — no scraping, no residue cross-contamination between runs. Critical when switching between black and white compounds.

4. Industrial-Grade Component Sourcing

  • Bearings: Timken TWB (USA) — rated for continuous high-load operation
  • Electricals: Shihlin / Taian (Taiwan) — proven in Asian manufacturing environments
  • Rotor alloy: Nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel with imported German wear-facing on high-shear zones

5. Compact, Self-Contained Footprint

At 550 × 550 × 1100 mm and approximately 150 kg, the KR-123B fits on a standard lab bench. No special foundation, no crane installation — plug into a 3-phase 380V supply and start mixing.

Who This Is For

R&D Labs

Validate new compound recipes on 20-gram samples before scaling. Archive every test parameter digitally — the PLC exports batch logs for your LIMS or QC documentation system.

Quality Control Departments

Set a baseline mixing protocol for incoming raw material inspection. If a new lot of carbon black or silica disperses differently, you’ll know before it enters production.

Universities & Polymer Institutes

Teach students the principles of internal mixing with a safe, benchtop unit that mirrors industrial-scale machine behavior.

Masterbatch & Compound Producers

Provide formulation samples to OEM customers. Ship 50 grams of a test compound instead of running a full 75L batch.

FAQ

Q: What’s the minimum material I can test? A: As little as 20 grams, depending on material density. The 0.05L chamber is purpose-built for micro-batch trials.

Q: Can it handle high-viscosity silicone rubber? A: Yes. The pneumatic ram and 1:1.20 rotor speed differential provide the shear needed for high-durometer compounds.

Q: Is the temperature uniform throughout the chamber? A: The chamber body is drilled for cartridge heaters with a water-jacket cooling circuit. The PLC maintains ±1°C uniformity during steady-state operation.

Q: How do I clean between color changes? A: The split-door discharge provides full chamber access. For critical color transitions, run a cleaning compound cycle. The hard-chrome surfaces minimize residue adhesion.

Q: What’s the lead time? A: Typically 15–20 working days. Configuration options (chamber size, rotor geometry, temperature range) may affect timing.
